Two Outsiders to Oversee Drivers? Union
The parent union of the 15,000-member local that represents New York City school bus drivers named two outsiders to oversee it yesterday, more than a year after its two top officers were indicted on federal charges concerning mob involvement in the local. The parent union, the Amalgamated Transit Union, took the action against Local 1181, putting it in temporary trusteeship a day after federal prosecutors brought additional charges against the local?s president, Salvatore Battaglia.
