Is California saving fish or picking on fishermen?
Introducing the first step in a giant master plan to create a mosaic of no-fishing zones along the California coast, the California Fish and Game Commission is squaring its shoulders for an expected fight from the fishing and tourism industries. Critics say the marine protection plan will decimate coastal economies and that the Commission doesn?t take into account current regulations that they claim have already halted overfishing, and that the state has overlooked other forces on marine populations - such as climate, coastal development, and urban runoff.
