A bill dramatically altering unionization laws was passed in the Vermont House yesterday, clearing a path for more bargaining units at state colleges should the proposal become a law. The bill would allow State College workers to create unions by merely having 50 percent sign a card supporting unionization, rather than by holding traditional union election. Supporters for the bill say it will ease workers' path to the middle class by giving them more voice in issues such as wages, benefits and job security.
