Unions Lose on Political Fee Issue
The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that states can require public sector unions to get permission from non-union workers before using their fees for political activities. In writing the Court's decision, which upheld a Washington state law, Judge Antonin Scalia stated that requiring non-union workers' permission did not violate the union's First Amendment Rights. The case involeved workers represented by the Washington Education Association, but not members of the union.
