Unions slam 'miserly' pay increase
Australian unions are furious at a minimum wage increase granted by the Australian Fair Pay Commission that many union leaders described as "miserly" or "peanuts". While the unions had requested a $28 per week raise in the national minimum wage, the commission granted only a $10.26 increase per week, claiming the increase marked a "significant" step in improving the lives of Australian workers, despite cries from the unions that government had "abandonded" the worker.
