Workplace fatality rate lowest since 1992
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today the lowest workplace fatality rate since 1992, the first year the fatality census was conducted. Officials reported nearly half of the fatalities occurred in the construction and extraction industries and in the transportation industries. In addition, the number of reported workplace homocides was down more than 50 percent from the reported high in 1994.
