New boss a mystery to UAW
The decision by Chrysler LLC owner Cerberus Capital Management to name Robert Nardelli as its chairman and CEO has baffled UAW members and added further uncertainty to contract talks just weeks old. Nardinelli, who has only limited experience in dealing with labor unions, was named CEO Monday in a surprise move by Cerberus in only its first day in full control of Chrysler. UAW members showed concerned with the choice of Nardinelli because his buyout package of $210 million by Home Depot lasted year had been cited by the AFL-CIO as an example of excessive executive pay.
