'Desperate' times in H'Wood: Strike claims 'Housewives', other big shows
A number of television's most popular and profitable shows, including "Desperate Housewives", "Rules of Engagement", and "Back To You", have stopped production and gone on hiatus due to the Hollywood writers' strike, a day after the major late night comedy show such as "Late Night", "The Daily Show", and "The Tonight Show" went into reruns. The writers went on strike Monday after failing to renegotiate their contract, which expired at the beginning of the month. At the core of the dispute is the issue of how much of a cut of the online distribution and DVDs of TV shows and movies writers are entitled to.
