WGA seeks to avoid AMPTP
The Writers Guild of America raised the stakes in the standoff with producers over the weekend when it confirmed it will seek to bargain with production companies individually to end the writers' strike. The first beneficiary of the new tactic could be David Letterman's production company Worldwide Pants, which would seek to put CBS' latenight lineup back into production as early as next month. The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers is disputing whether or not its members have a legal obligation to negotiate individually with the writers.
