Golden Globes crippled by strike
NBC canceled plans to air the highly-rated Golden Globe Awards after it became clear the ceremony would be virtually celebrity-free, with Hollywood's stars vowing to stay away in a show of support for the Writer's Guild. The network instead will broadcast a dressed up news conference announcing this year's winners, in conjunction with the Globe's producers, Dick Clark Productions. WGA members declared they will picket the proceedings regardless of the format.
