Bilingual health care reaches immigrants in the workplace
Immigrant workers at Kaolin Mushroom Farms can breathe easier, knowing that language will no longer a barrier to receiving quality health care benefits from employers. The company, through La Comunidad Hispana's one-year-old Work Healthy program, has launched a new program providing bilingual health care services for immigrant labor at its three farms, meaning many workers no longer suffer the trepidation and confusion of receiving diagnoses and treatment in a language they don't understand. In addition, by locating the clinics on work premises, workers have easier access to health care.
