Passenger group, union team up
In an effort to bulk up the opposition to several proposed airline mergers, a top passenger rights group has teamed up with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers to coordinate efforts. The Coalition for an Airline Passengers' Bill of Rights fears the mergers will result in poor service as a result of combining separate corporate cultures, while the Machinists union fears layoffs. It remains to be seen whether the new partnership can flex any muscle in stopping airline mergers.
