SAG deal unlikely before June 30
Officials for the Screen Actors Guild appear to be resigned that the union will not be able to reach a new deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers before the current contract lapses on June 30. SAG president Alan Rosenberg called progress in the negotiations "elusive", citing a slowdown in the talks since AFTRA made its own separate deal due to be ratified July 7th. Although Rosenberg stated that he had not yet asked SAG members for a strike authorization vote, he did not rule out the possiblity that one would be requested, possibly as early as the next week or two.
