AFL-CIO celebrates union victories in N.J.
AFL-CIO members in New Jersey are celebrating a new full smoking ban on all Atlantic City casino gaming floors, and a "family leave" act that will make it easier for employees to take days off and care for family members. Now the unions are setting their sights on legislation that would limit the bargaining period for new contracts, as well as make the unionizing election process optional. AFL-CIO officials hope the Employee Free Choice Act will make it easier for workers to unionize, and limit the ability of employers to discourage such attempts to organize.
