With Drivers on Strike, Brooklyn Barely Notices
It is the end of the New York City concrete drivers' first week on strike, but one unsettling conclusion can be drawn: Brooklyn does not notice. Residents living around the construction sites, where slowdown and work stoppages have occurred, say that they do not notice any real difference, and that New York City is always pretty loud, with or without the concrete trucks. The Teamsters called the strike but are currently progressing in their negotiations with the city's concrete producers. Some residents have gone so far as to ask that, when the drivers do come back to work, they try to reduce the amount of dust they emit.
