Unions Rally, Vowing Strike at Verizon
The Communications Workers of America and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers have vowed that their 65,000 Verizon employees will strike if their demands regarding wages, health care, and outsourcing are not met. The unions held a massive rally at Verizon's Manhattan headquarters to emphasize the seriousness of the labor situation. A major point of contention between the unions and Verizon is the outsourcing and subcontracting of jobs.
