Star Tribune, press operators resume talks
Talks have resumed between the press operator's union and management at the Star Tribune as of Thursday. Both sides hope an agreement can be reached before a U.S. bankruptcy judge intervenes. The Star Tribune already asked the court in New York to impose certain concessionary measures on the press operator's union, which would save the company an estimated $3.5 million. (As a whole, the company is seeking $20 million in concessions from all of its employees.) The court encouraged the parties to reach a deal right away in order to avoid bankruptcy. Both union representatives and management are set to appear in court again today, where a judge may impose a deal if one has not yet been reached.
