Labor Pact at a Quebec Wal-Mart
A government arbitrator awarded Wal-Mart employees at a store in Quebec a labor agreement ? making the United Food and Commercial Workers Union the only union to cover a Wal-Mart store in North America. However, previous union success at Wal-Mart shops in Quebec prompted the company to shut down those locations. The agreement includes a grievance procedure, seniority rights, and a fair wage structure. The deal also provides for a small wage increase to cover the cost of union dues.
