New York City Mayor Bloomberg is said to have received the endorsement of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1500 in his mayoral race ? though a formal announcement has not yet been made. The UFCW, which has not previously supported Bloomberg, was apparently pleased with his administration's efforts in opening grocery stores in undeserved communities. The support is a significant set-back to Bloomberg's Democratic competitor ? whom the union supported in the last race. Bloomberg is expected to receive several other labor endorsements as well.
