Air Canada union to vote again
12,300 members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) will vote again on a labor contract including a pension moratorium with Air Canada, after it's narrow defeat last week. While groups representing clerical and finance employees voted in favor by large margins, the technical, maintenance, and operations group voted just over 50% against. The union and Air Canada met in talks this weekend, and claimed to have worked out the main issue, a question of possible outsourcing. Air Canada announced the re-vote as set for July 14th, but neither side specified whether or not, the contract is expected to pass. Pilots and Flight Attendants at Air Canada are also scheduled to vote on a separate labor contract during this week.
