Union files complaint against Aramark over dues
Workers United filed a criminal complaint against the Aramark Corporation (a food services and concessions company) Tuesday, saying the company has been taking union dues out of employees paychecks without giving the money to the union. Aramark does not deny it. Workers United has been struggling with Unite-Here for members since the union split in 2004, and the company has lost track of who represents who among the pitched battle. Company spokeswoman Kristine Grow says Aramark is waiting for help from the National Labor Relations Board, because too often they do not know what to do when there is a discrepancy between the union an employee is officially listed in and the union s/he says s/he's in. Unite-Here has said nothing about the struggle for the moment, except that they disagree with Workers United.
