NY detective accused of stealing from police union
An upstate New York police detective has been charged with grand larceny after the Town of Woodstock Police Benevolent Association (PBA) discovered over $20,000 missing from their union funds. Thirty-six year old Christopher Howland has served as the union treasurer in Woodstock, New York for a number of years and is now accused of stealing the $20,000 over the last two year period. Howland pleaded not guilty at an arraignment yesterday and now awaits a full court trial. He has been placed on forced administrative leave by the Woodstock police until the investigation is complete. The money missing was only that raised by the Woodstock PBA and did not include any public funds.
