Postal strike action continuing
As localized strikes county all over the country, employees of the UK postal service Royal Mail are preparing for a nationwide strike that goes to a vote on Thursday. If approved, some 120,000 UK postal workers may not show up to work next week. Although talks are on-going, the union maintains that Royal Mail is pushing ahead with modernization plans (including both job and pay cuts) without proper consultation. They want union members and workers to have a greater say in reorganization. Royal Mail has called the union's push for a national strike 'irresponsible' and maintain that in today's technological era, changes are necessary to keep the postal service running in the future. Management has urged union members to abandon all current and planned strikes.
