Aer Lingus calls cuts key to survival
In an effort to compensate for the economic crisis and loss of business, Irish airline Aer Lingus has plans to cut 676 positions and reduce the salaries of other employees. The airline says that the cuts are necessary to stave off takeovers, but the Impact labor union, which represents about 1,500 employees, says that the cuts are radical and unfair. The airline said that the cuts must be agreed upon by November 18th or other measures will be taken.
