Casino security workers vote against unionizing
The three-month old Rivers Casino on Pittsburgh's North Shore held a unionization vote yesterday for a small portion of its 1,000-some employees. The vote was for full-time or regular part-time security officers and surveillance technicians, and was conducted via secret ballot by the National Labor Relations Board on-site at the casino. The employees chose to reject union representation by the International Union of Security, Police, and Fire Professionals of America. The casino president issued a statement saying that the casino 'takes great pride' in its workforce, and is happy with the working relationship they have with their employees.
