Ford UAW local voting today for ability to strike
UAW Local 249, which represents Ford workers at a plant in Claycomo, M.O., began voting on whether or not to authorize a strike today. The vote comes because of issues regarding workloads, production schedule changes and an increase in disciplinary actions. UAW officials say this vote does not mean that the union will strike, but that this is just one step in the process of resolving problems with Ford. Local 249 voted overwhelmingly against the contract modifications that were rejected last week, which included a no-strike clause.
