British Airways cabin crew vote for strike ahead of busy Christmas travel period
92.5% of British cabin crews voted for a twelve day strike over the holidays, according to Britain's Unite union. The strike would last from December 22 to January 2. In the face of large losses and deficits, British Airways has announced plans to cut around 1,700 jobs, wages freezes and lower wages for new employees. An airline official said that the workers were ignoring the reality of the situation and only hurting themselves by striking over the holidays. Union statements said that they remained open to other options that would forestall the strike.
