Strike to delay assembly's plenary meeting
Around 20,000 Welsh civil and public workers are expected to continue the second day of a strike protesting new redundancy terms proposed by the government. The strikers are represented by the Public and Commercial Services union, which represents about half of all civil servants. Five other unions have agreed to the terms, but the PCS, with the support of over two-thirds of its members, is fighting them. A government official said that they were disappointed that PCS did not regard the changes as fair, though other unions had already agreed. The strike is causing shutdowns and delays at job centers, courts and the Welsh Assembly Government.
