Muni union not giving what city wants to take
San Francisco city transportation management has demanded a long list of contract concessions from the Transport Workers Union representing Muni drivers, but the employees aren't having any of it. The city's concession demands include: taking back an 8% pay premium for drivers working after 6pm, rescinding the 50 cent an hour pay premium for drivers working in the same division five years or longer, the $2 an hour premium for drivers transferred to another shift, the free company fitness club memberships, the free Muni passes for family members of employees, the reassignment of six full-time union employees, and an increased workload for about three dozen full-time workers who currently work less than full hours a week. Negotiations at this point remain fruitless, but the blame game is in full swing, between the union and management, but also a number of local politicians and officials involved in the struggle.
