Fiat boss urges workers to accept sacrifices
After a vote on new conditions at Fiat plants in Italy, Fiat is asking workers to try and accept the conditions. Only 62% of workers voted for the new contract, leading some to worry that the company would reconsider moving production to Italy. However the company says that it plans to go ahead with its plans, and hopes that the workers will work with them. Union leaders say that they proposed a different agreement, but that the company would not accept it. They mainly object to restrictions on striking, absenteeism measures and other conditions, but workers say that they need the work, so they had to accept Fiat's terms.
