Worker protest at Hyatt reults in 41 arrests
Workers at an Indianapolis Hyatt took part in a coordinated hotel workers protest organized by Unite Here. Workers at the Hyatt were protesting work hours and the use of temporary workers to fill in. Workers at the hotel have attempting to organize a union for years, but are hung up with the hotel on the form of the ballot. The workers want a card check neutrality process, but the hotel wants to use a secret-ballot process. A spokesman for the hotel says that they want the election to be democratically secret, and that the hotel only uses temporary workers as necessary. The protest brought out about 200 to a rally, and 41 protesters locked arms on the sidewalk outside the hotel before being arrested by the police.
