Unison supports European day of anti-cuts action
Some British unions are calling for the Trades Union Congress to support the European Trade Union Confederation's "European Day of Action", planned for September 29. European Union finance ministers are due to meet in Brussels on that day. Unison, which represents 1.3 million workers said that the proposed cuts hurt everyone, and that they should get as much support as possible against the cuts. Other unions called for the government to consult with the unions on cuts, and the Public and Commercial Services Union called for a day of action on October 20, when the British government will announce what it wants to cut.
