Mott's Demands Pay Cuts Despite $555M Profit
Three months after beginning a strike against a Mott's plant in Williamson, N.Y., workers say that they will not give up. The strike is over the company's plan to cut workers' wages by $1.50 an hour, in an effort to bring the company's average closer to the area average. The company says that their workers make an average of $19 an hour, while area workers make an average of $14 an hour. Mott's also wants to freeze workers' pensions. Workers say that with more than $500 million in profits, the workers should not be penalized. The company has brought in replacement workers, and says that they have no plans to begin talks again.
