Mayor's plan to limit Tube strike impact
In preparation for a strike by London Underground unions RMT and TSSA on Monday, London has added buses, boats cars and bikes to its transportation system. The two unions, which represent maintenance and non-maintenance workers are striking over plans to cut 800 ticketing jobs that the city says are redundant. The Mayor of London called on the unions to come back to the bargaining table and not inconvenience millions of Londoners. The unions say that talks to end the strike broke down, and that it will go on. This strike is expected to be smoother for commuters than last year's strike in June. The strike will last 29 hours, from 5 p.m. on Monday.
