Portuguese unions announce general strike
The General Confederation of Portuguese Workers, which represents around 700,000 workers announced a general strike for November 24. The strike is to protest the government's cuts to pay and benefits, and the tax increase. The group said that it was part of its fight against the plan. The General Workers' Union, another umbrella group said that it was considering joining the walkout.
