Lib Dem conference: Unions protest over 'assassination' of public services
British unions are protesting the cuts and threatened cuts to public sector jobs and services and the Liberal Democrats' annual conference. 200,000 public sector jobs have been threatened or cut, and unions say that they will fight against it, saying that the government does not care about the public. The unions also say that cutting public sector jobs will lead to more private sector jobs being cut as well. The unions say that they are happy with peaceful protest, and that they will hold meetings to discuss other solutions for the deficit. Union group TUC voted last week to lobby the coalition parties to rethink cutting as much as they have said they will.
