Pensions, health the focus for unions in talks
Three weeks after negotiations between the Screen Actors Guild, American Federation of Television & Radio Artists and the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers, no agreement has been reached and sources say that there will probably not be a quick resolution. SAG and AFTRA are expected to be focusing on health care and pension contributions, while AMPTP is working for lower costs. The blackout on news of negotiations is a change from past negotiations, and many hope that this bargaining cycle will be less contentious. SAG and AFTRA's contracts expire on June 30. The Directors Guild of America will begin negotiations in 4 weeks, focusing on health care and pension costs.
