Third day of protests in France as strikes grind on
French workers are protesting for the third straight day on Thursday. While the strike has lost participants in the transportation sector since Tuesday, with only some local trains no running, workers in the energy sector have hampered output from 11 of France's refineries. The government says that they have enough fuel for at least a month, and that there is no reason to worry, but workers blocked fuel deliveries from nine of the refineries. Union leaders met to discuss further plans for strikes, including one next week. Some wonder if the strikes will move into a prolonged general strike which could seriously harm the economy and possibly halt the pension reform the unions are protesting.
