Acting unions merger to take some time
The Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists say that they are proceeding slowly with plans to merge the two unions. The presidents of both unions are seeking feedback from their members on the merger, including any concerns or ideas they may have. Both say that the feedback has been mostly positive, with concerns mainly regarding health care and pension funds. The president of AFTRA said that the pension and health care funds would not be merged unless the two unions do, which will depend on how the members vote. A previous merger in 2003 failed to pass by members of SAG.
