Teacher union backs breaking up Milwaukee district
The largest teachers union in Wisconsin is supporting a vigorous strategy to reform Milwaukee school system, a strategy which includes the elimination of teachers who perform poorly through statewide evaluations and pay for performance system. Further, the strategy aims to break up the state?s four school districts into eight smaller districts. Although the teachers union has traditionally backed Democratic candidates, this new reform proposal is more conservative but is backed by the Republican Governor Scott Walker and President Barack Obama.
