Oman oil workers say strike for higher wages
Hundreds of Omani oil workers are protesting for higher wages. The workers have held protests at company headquarters, and staged work stoppages at several oil and gas fields. Workers say that they are paid less than oil workers in other countries, and they want to make up that difference. Some have even camped out in front of the parliament and a governor's office, demanding not only higher wages, but more jobs, an elected parliament and a new constitution. The strikes are the first at a national oil company since protests in the region began earlier this year. Workers say that they plan to strike again on Wednesday.
