Unions warn of 'massive' protests over government cuts
The British public service union Unison says that they will use conferences in the next week to encourage activists and union members to vent their anger over the government's cuts. The union says that the public should use local elections to convey their frustration to the government. Unison also plans on discussing plans for balloting its members about potential industrial action over the government cuts. Thousands of demonstrators showed up to a march organized by the umbrella Trades Union Congress, and thousands more came to a May Day rally on Sunday. The union says that they are fighting to protect workers and their standard of living.
