Hundreds of Air India pilots strike over pay
Pilots at Air India have gone on strike for better wages and working conditions. The 800 pilots used to work for Indian Airlines, which merged with Air India in 2007. The pilots say that they are paid less than the Air India pilots and that they have poor working conditions. A court ordered the pilots to return to work on Wednesday, but the union says that they will continue their protest. The airline says that the strike is illegal, and is not longer recognizing the Indian Commercial Pilots' Association, which many of the striking pilots belong to. The airline also said that they had fired 6 union leaders and suspend two others. The strike has caused at least 20 flights to be canceled and delays to others.
