Most Ohio voters want to repeal union curbs: poll
A new poll finds that the majority of Ohio voters support repealing a law that limits public sector union rights. The bill, which was passed in March but has yet to go into effect, prevents workers from striking, removes automatic pay increases, does away with binding arbitration and allows local legislative bodies to choose an offer in negotiations fail. Ohio, which has the sixth largest amount of public sector union members, is seen as a battleground for curbs on collective bargaining. The poll found that 54% believed the law should be repealed and 36% said that it should remain. Opponents of the bill are currently collecting signatures to put the law on the November 2011 ballot for repeal.
