NH gov vetoes anti-union bill
New Hampshire's Governor has vetoed a bill that would stop employers and unions form negotiating clauses in contracts that require non-union members to pay a share of the collective bargaining costs. Federal law requires union to negotiate on behalf of both non-union and union members, and state law does not require workers to join a union if they are covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The Governor said that unless there is a compelling public interest, the state should not interfere in relations between unions and employers. Supporters of the bill are trying to get enough votes to override the veto.
