Punishment for Hiring Undocumented Workers OK
The Supreme Court upheld an Arizona law which revokes or suspends the licenses of businesses who hire undocumented workers. The challenge to the law was under the federal immigration Reform and Control Act, which imposes civil and criminal penalties on employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants. The Supreme Court ruled that while states and localities cannot impose civil or criminal penalties, they can punish employers through license suspension or revocation.
