US Airways' pilots union sues over contract delays
The US Airways Pilots Association is suing the company, saying that they are stalling the bargaining process and grievance procedures. The two sides have been trying to reach a new contract agreement since 2005. The union says that pilots are paid below the standard for the industry, but US Airways says that they need those rates to remain low. The two groups meet about once every month to attempt to negotiate the contract. The union says that the company has no intention of reaching an agreement. They are also asking that the courts force the airline to resolve outstanding grievances brought by the pilots. The airline says that the suit is without merit, and that they will continue to bargain with the union.
