NLRB-Boeing fight called evidence of ?jobs blocking agenda?
The fight between NLRB and Boeing is quickly becoming a litmus test for a larger political struggle between Democrats and Republicans over the scope of the NLRB?s mandate. Republican Congressman Tim Scott of South Carolina has decried the agency?s complaint against Boeing as an example of government dictating which jobs are to be created and where, a policy he described as more likely to inhibit job growth rather than promote it. Former NLRB chairman Peter C. Schaumber, a conservative, claims the agency has overstepped its bounds in filing the complaint, and alleges that board members are secretly conducting negotiations without lone conservative member Brian Hayes, possibly signaling more pro-union decisions in the future.
