Hyatt workers mount weeklong strike after 2 years without contract
Workers at Hyatt Hotels in Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Honolulu began a week long strike on Thursday. Negotiations between Hyatt and Unite Here, which represents the workers, have been going on for over two years. Hyatt says that they are offering a wage and benefit deal identical to ones that the union accepted with other hotel chains. Workers say that their problem with Hyatt is not the wages, but how they are treated and the working conditions. Hyatt workers have staged one-day strikes, but this will be the first multi-day strike.
