U.S. Charges Bass Pro Shops With Racial Bias
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed a lawsuit against Bass Pro. The lawsuit alleges that the company discriminates against non-white job applicants. The EEOC says that it is basing the lawsuit on confidential data about employment make-up from Bass Pro, as well as the investigation it has been conducting since 2007. Bass Pro says that they do not discriminate, and that the EEOC claim has no merit. The EEOC also says that Bass Pro employees have destroyed documents related to hiring practices and has retaliated against workers who complained. The lawsuit could involve thousands of people who have worked at Bass Pro since 2005.
